Spicy Blackberry Margarita

Happy 4th of July!  I hope this day finds you all healthy and happy!  I’m going to share a little recipe with you that uses my Adams Apple Spicy Blackberry Jam. I’ll admit, the only time I have a margarita is when we go out for Mexican food.  I didn’t even have any tequila in my house before trying this.  I’m a red wine kinda gal.  Maybe a beer sometimes, but in doing some “jam research” it came to my attention that jams can be used in mixed drinks.  Who knew? Obviously not me, but all of a sudden I’m an expert.  So, here we go!

Ingredients:

1 1/2-2 oz tequila

2 oz lime juice

heaping tablespoon of Adams Apple Spicy Blackberry Jam

(Optional) Triple Sec

2 oz lime seltzer (you can use a LaCroix or something similar)

Salt for rim, and lime for garnish

Directions:

Fill a cocktail shaker (or mason jar in my case) with ice and add tequila, lime juice, jam, and triple sec (if desired).  Shake for 30 seconds–it will be frothy. Pour into a salt-rimmed glass and top with lime seltzer.  Garnish with lime.

Tip:  Thin the jam with a few drops of water and heat in the microwave for 15 seconds before adding to the shaker.
